Where it all began
The inspiration behind Seasons of Hope.
When I was a teenager, my parents took our family to volunteer at the Christmas Day Happening in Ridgway, Pennsylvania. For 40 years, this charity Christmas dinner brought the community together and offered everyone an opportunity to love and to feel loved.
We served each person their meal as though they were an honored guest. We sat together, ate, visited, and shared stories that connected us as friends and neighbors. Everyone was welcome.
I will never forget the smiles that radiated from the faces of the wonderful people I had the privilege of serving on those Christmas mornings. Those experiences stayed with me and became the inspiration for Seasons of Hope.
Although the Christmas Day Happening is no longer held in my hometown, I am honored to carry its tradition forward in the community I now call home.
Through our Community Christmas Dinner, we hope to carry that spirit forward by creating a place where every person feels welcomed, valued, and loved.
